The husband and wife team of Bill and Mary Schaaf recognized a need for a legal document service in their Walnut Creek community, so Mary became a Licensed Document Assistant and they opened their doors in 2003. The business has steadily grown, and they recently expanded into the building next door, providing more space and privacy for their clients. “Many people who come to us are frustrated, having given up on confusing do-it-yourself processes. They love that we are real people who counsel, guide and help them fill out legal forms. We also file the legal forms for them to help streamline the process. It’s our job to make access to legal document easy and affordable.”
Prior to CDP, Bill was a SVP, General Merchandise Manager for retail giant Emporium Capwell. In 1993, Bill and Mary opened a handbag business called R&B Bags and shipped more than $25M of handbags to Nordstrom’s over the next ten years. Bill and Mary have four children and five grandchildren and feel very fortunate to be living in Northern California.
